Stopped by here at 7am on a Sunday to ask for jumper cables to jump my scooter battery. There weren't any so me and my dog ended up staying while we waited for my mom. The staff was nice they gave him water and a slimjim and a patron shared their chips with him. He had a great time and everyone loved his Dallas cowboy jersey. I normally wouldn't drink on a Sunday, but this (I'm almost sure of it) would definitely be a bar our lord would unwind in. An over indulged couple arguing about which wataburger is the best, while a man in a ICP shirt sings louder than the jukebox speakers to the the tune of John Legends All Of Me. The nearly packed bar seemed to enjoy it and even joined it at some parts, even waking up the tired and filling them with inspiration; a là church if you will. This unexpected yet familiar place nearly made me forget it was only 7am on a Sunday and me and my dog still needed to drive my scooter home. I will definitely return for more of the unexpected, and so will my dog…for the chips and slimjims of course.

Long standing, local dive bar. Tons of regulars and yet inviting for new customers to hang out and have some drinks. Pool tables are well kept and have a spacious area around them considering the size of the entire bar, which isn't very large. The bartenders have all worked there for years, which says something about the owner and management. Good tunes on the jukebox, great drink prices, and comfortable environment make this a great bar.
Well, what can I say about the Playa Bar. It is THE locals bar on East McDowell. Bartenders Britney and Tia are smart and funny, and great at their jobs. Two of the locals I met on this trip were Norman and Pete and they were happy to welcome people like me from the UK. Pool tables, jukebox, a range of good beers, good people - what more can one want.
La Playa bar is a cool place to hang after work for sure. Brittany is awesome and makes us feel like we been coming here for years! Pool tables and Darts are a great plus. Especially when I challenge my lil bros. You know who you are!
